| Tylototriton species |
| Emperor newts (Tylototriton shanjing) are very toxic and native to southeast Asia. They are also known as the Mandarin newt or the Mandarin salamander. They are generally nocturnal and the top of its skull and vertebrae have exceptionally thick bones. The orange warts on its back are venom glands and when squeezed the tips of the ribs will secrete venom out of the glands. An Emperor newt has enough venom to kill 7,500 mice. |
