| The Fire Belly Newt is a common newt often seen in many pet stores. This species is found in the south of China and it inhabits and breeds in pools, ponds, seepages and paddy fields in hilly areas, in both forest and degraded habitats. Chinese Fire-bellied Newts are mainly aquatic and require a relatively small aquarium. Adult Newts should be fed every other day with a mixture of earthworms, slugs, maggots, and Tubifex. It is possible to get them to eat pelleted foods, and captive-bred individuals are most likely to be already well adept at taking pellets. |
